What are 'pre-wedding' shoots and why do one?

Doing a fun little couple shoot before your wedding is something I highly recommend to all my couples. Especially if you hate the thought of being in front of a camera for more than you have to! Not only does the shoot give us an opportunity to get to know each other a bit better before the wedding day, but it also benefits both parties in multiple ways:

  1. You’ll be able to have a practice run in front of my camera which will help you rid yourself of any awkwardness. It will also allow you to get a better understanding of how I work as a photographer and set you up for a much more comfortable photography experience on your wedding day (since you already know what to expect).
  2. I get to suss out how you are as a couple, how you connect with each other, what stuff works for you photography-wise.
  3. You get some damn nice photos of the two of you from this time of your life that aren’t wedding photos.

It’s basically a win-win situation, and it definitely makes a difference for your wedding photos! And we can do whatever you want during your pre-wedding photos – it doesn’t have to be a standard ‘photoshoot’ per se. I’m more than happy to do something fun and different for your session. Like catch up for a game of mini-golf, go bar-hopping and explore alleyways in the city, go for a hike in the hills, enjoy a sunset picnic at the beach, etc.
